The world is anxious, but I must admit, it’s the most okay past few months in a very, very long time. While everyone is stressed and panicking, everything has been better than normal here. I have a decent apartment, with a cool cat, stocked pantry and fridge. Not a flex. Just the result of my parents’ training to be a responsible person.
My mom always said, ‘Make your bed everyday. Be 30 minutes early. Stay at least 30 minutes longer than your boss. Prepare your place like you’ll have 4 guests at any given time. Be good. Do good. Then, do your best in all of those.’ My dad was more of an action guy. The quiet, lead by example person. Their combination set me up for success. Not necessarily ‘cool’ in societal norms (not cool at all actually), but definitely above average successful in the things that count.
Trying not to feel guilty about how relaxing (almost rejuvenating) the past few week or so have been. It’s less crowded everywhere. People are keeping distant, but still trying to connect. I even scored more than $600 worth of booze for $280 because places are being forced to close down indefinitely — and some establishments cannot afford to not have patrons even for a short stretch so they have to sell off their products below cost. I justified it by saying I am “supporting local establishments”, but in reality I’m being rewarded while other people suffer.
I’m just rambling. I am just very thankful. I am extremely grateful for all the things I am enjoying right now, but I really, really worked hard for all of it, and most of it all by myself. In recompense, I hope you enjoyed these photos of what I have been doing lately, enjoying nature and share the outside for those who are stuck in places without views like this.
